| About The Hedgehog Fire Starter |
|
Matches and lighters often fail from water and mechanical damage, but the Hedgehog Fire Starter is far more reliable in adverse conditions. This device is a 3/8" x 3" ferrocerium rod that is attached to a knurled metal handle with a lanyard hole. When used in conjunction with a metal striking surface, such as the back of a knife, this unit produces a shower of hot sparks that will assist in igniting a campfire. For wilderness survival purposes, the Hedgehog Fire Starter is ideal because it will yield several thousand strikes and remain equally reliable after being exposed to water in a heavy rain storm, a canoe tipping, or any soaking wet conditions you may encounter. A bungee retention leash is attached to the handle of the Hedgehog Fire Starter, making it compatible with several of our advanced version sheaths like the Tom Brown Tracker, Classic Ka-Bar and Becker BK-2. It is also equally at home on your set of keys or worn as a necklace.
