5 Must See Survival Schools
Surely there is no better way to advance your survival skills than by learning from someone that has "been there, done that". Below I have put together a quick list of
some reputable schools. A few of these guys are close friends of mine and they are ALL folks that I respect tremendously.

Briar Patch Outdoors
Location: Shelbyville, Michigan
Website: www.briarpatchoutdoors.com
Owned and operated by George Hedgepeth, Briar Patch Outdoors is a first rate survival school that covers all elements of wilderness living, with an emphasis on primitive technology.
George has an incredible ability to break down complicated information and explain in terms that everyone can understand. I have spent some "one on one" time learning from George
and can tell you first hand the skill and knowledge he has is outstanding.

Bush Craft On Fire
Location: Mansfield, Missouri
Website: http://www.youtube.com/user/BushcraftOnFire
This wilderness school is new on the scene but has a VERY promising future. I have been chatting with the owner, Dave Wendell, and am really impressed with the breadth of knowledge this man has. Dave also has
a lot of GREAT videos available for public viewing on YouTube. Be sure to check out his channel, and reach out to him with any questions!

Pathfinder School
Location: Chillicothe, Ohio
Website: www.wildernessoutfittersarchery.com
Dave Canterbury, the creator of the Pathfinder System, has become famous on YouTube for his videos that are jam-packed with great information. Dave is an
outstanding guy and is endlessly creative with the ideas that and content that he produces. Be sure to check out his website for info on survival courses, survival gear, and
his virtual classroom. Also, keep an eye out... Dave is a contender for the Discovery Channel's new show called Dual Survivor!

Tom Brown's Tracker School
Location: Asbury, New Jersey
Website: www.trackerschool.com
The Tracker School is well known for teaching all aspects of wilderness survival and providing a philosophy of caretaking to go with the physical skills. My first exposure to wilderness living
was through Tracker School courses, and so this school will always hold a special place in my heart. If you are looking for a very experiential class environment, then Tracker School
may be a great fit for you.

Wilderness Learning Center
Location: Chateauguay, New York
Website: www.weteachu.com
Equally entertaining as educational, Marty Simon, the owner of the Wilderness Learning Center, is an awesome teacher of the survival skills. I have spent time with Marty at a survival
event in North Carolina for the past two years. He is filled with knowledge and especially humor... Be sure to check out his website to learn more about the variety of classes and
events that he hosts throughout the year.
